Sigma 1251 Disappears into the Obsolescence Cloud

Sigma Instruments was incorporated in 1995 for distribution of products in the semiconductor and vacuum-coating industries. Long before then however, the company had been a major player in the analog metering sector for nuclear power plants with one of their staples, the Sigma 1251. With the curved subjectivity of its PSG display and drooping needle, it’s not too terribly difficult to imagine this little piece of equipment being the sneaky culprit behind horrendous disasters such as Fukushima or 3 Mile Island—so why persist with obsolete technology whose very limits create inherent risk?

Minimize problematic HMI and MMI with Otek’s New Technology Series of intelligent meters that measure up to analog obsolescence. Using our cutting-edge technology we offer the NTM-9 as a 100% Form, Fit, and Function replacement for the Sigma 1251 for Class 1E safety related and nuclear qualified applications, as well as Mil-Specs 461, 167-1, 810F, 901C, and IEEE-344 respectively.

The NTM-9 housing is an industry standard 6 x 1.74” available in plastic or metal. This unit houses up to 2 channel and is available in loop (4-20mA), A.C. signal, or externally powered models. Highlighted features include an automatic tricolor bar with intensity control, our patented input fail alarm with runtime stamp, self-diagnostics, isolated serial I/O with USB or RS485 options (Ethernet & Flash Memory are available on externally-powered models), math functions, over thirty isolated input signals, 4 relays or O.C.T, a configurable bar direction (up/down/center zero), and only 100mW@5VDC.

The NTM-9 also carries a Cyber Security Exempt Status and Otek’s lifetime warranty. As with all our products, the NTM-9 is 100% configurable to your applications. We customize our technology so all you have to do is unplug obsolescence and plug in Otek!
