As part of our continued dedication towards our Nuclear Quality Assurance Program (as required by 10CFR50, Appendix B), we are pleased to announce that Otek Corporation’s Chief Engineer, Noel Smith, will soon be attending a 3-day Commercial Grade Dedication class.
The three-day course, which will be held at the Nuclear Training Institute in Norcross, Georgia, is designed to provide engineers with a better understanding of how Commercial Grade Dedication is applied in order to meet NQA-1 requirements. During the course, Noel will further his knowledge of the Commercial Grade Dedication process and will receive supplemental training on such important topics as how to identify the safety function and critical characteristics of a design and how to establish production traceability.
Although Noel has received extensive training on the Verification and Validation of safety-related software and firmware, this focused class will ensure additional compliance with 10CFR regulations. Noel is a 2004 graduate of NAU and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a secondary emphasis in Computer Science.
Otek Corporation will be attending the ANS Winter Meeting & Nuclear Technology Expo, which will be held from October 29th through October 31st at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
We would like to invite all attendees and all members of the American Nuclear Society to visit us at booth # 101, which is located just to the right of the main entrance.
As part of our exhibit, we will be unveiling our new SSAM-N. The SSAM is a Solid State Analog Meter that replaces form, fit & function an ANSI 4” switchboard analog meter. This instrument is unique in that it has no microproecessors, making it safe from hackers and exempt from cyber security regulations. SSAM is powered by the signal it measures, just like an analog meter, but without the stuck needle and inaccuracy and the sensitivity to shock, vibration, EMI/RFI and without the lack of HMI of the analogs.
Some features of this innovative technology include:
100% Signal or External Powered
Current Loop (4-20 & 10-50mA) or AC/DC V, A, W & Hz Input Signals
Tricolor 101 LED Bargraph & 4 ½ Digits
No Microprocessors (Cyber Security Restrictions Exempt)
Input Signal Failure Alarm (No stuck Needle)
Come visit us at booth #101 and meet SSAM!
We are pleased to welcome representatives from APS Palo Verde and PSEG Hope Creek nuclear power plants, who will be visiting OTEK World HQ in Tucson, AZ the week of June 26, 2017. This will be the first audit of OTEK’s new Nuclear Quality Assurance program as required by 10CFR50 Appendix B and 10CFR21.
This is an important first step for OTEK to be placed on the Approved Suppliers List (ASL) for these two plants. Inclusion on the ASL permits OTEK to be a direct supplier of safety-related instruments, analog meter replacements, digital panel meters, digital bargraph meters and controllers for these plants.
Any utilities who would like to participate in this audit are welcome to contact Dale Leech (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
OTEK Corporation will once again be demonstrating the Award Winning NTM series of New Technology Meters at the 19th Annual Electric Power Conference + Exhibition, April 10-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Come and visit us at Booth #731.
As an “FOO” (aka Friend of OTEK) you can sign up for a Free EXPO Pass.
